Limited Company Setup & Compliance for Tradespeople
Thinking of going Ltd? We handle everything from Companies House registration to HMRC setup, Corporation Tax and ongoing compliance. So you can focus on the tools, not the paperwork.
Should You Go Limited? Run the Numbers First.
Going Ltd isn't right for everyone. It depends on your income, your
goals, and how you're currently structured but for many sole traders earning a steady profit, the numbers can work out significantly in favour of going limited.
A limited company structure lets you pay yourself a combination of salary
and dividends which is typically more tax-efficient than taking all
your income as a sole trader. You also get limited liability, which
protects your personal finances if something goes wrong.
The best way to know for sure is to run your numbers through our free
Sole Trader vs Ltd calculator it'll show you exactly how much you could save (if anything) based on your actual income.

FAQ
How much does it cost to set up a limited company?
Companies House registration costs £50 online. Our setup fee covers everything else HMRC registrations, company structure advice and initial compliance setup. Speak to us for a fixed-fee quote.
Can I keep my existing contracts if I go Ltd?
In most cases, yes. However, if you work through a recruitment agency or under a contract of service, IR35 rules may affect how you’re taxed. IR35 status determinations are a specialist area we’d recommend getting this confirmed before incorporating, and can point you toward the right resources.
Do I still need to file a Self Assessment as a Ltd company director?
Not automatically. Directors who only receive a salary through PAYE don’t necessarily need to file one. However, if you receive dividends, untaxed income, or income above certain thresholds, you’ll need to. Most owner-directors taking a salary and dividend combination will and we handle this as part of your annual compliance.
What happens to my CIS deductions when I go Ltd?
Your limited company can register under CIS as a subcontractor. Deductions are offset against the company’s PAYE liability via monthly EPS submissions, and any excess is refunded. We handle the CIS reconciliation.
Can I switch back to sole trader if it doesn't work out?
Yes, though there are administrative and tax implications to closing a limited company. We’ll make sure you understand the exit process before we set anything up.
